In natural sciences and engineering, the research cooperation concentrates on China, Korea (in each case one partner university) and Japan.
In cooperation with the University of the Philippines Diliman, TU Dortmund University offers the postgraduate course “Regional Planning and Management in Developing Countries (SPRING)” for graduates from developing countries in Asia.
Since 1996, TU Dortmund University has been cooperating with Beit Berl College in Israel in the field of educational training. In recent years, the cooperation with other Israeli institutions became more important. Moreover, in 2002 the university signed an agreement with the University of Dohuk, Iraq. On the departmental level academics cooperate with Syria and other universities in the Middle East.
